Device Toolbar
From Audacity Development Manual
Device Toolbar provides an easy way to select the combination of interface host and sound device to be used for playback and recording, without having to open the Devices Preferences.
Devices Toolbar is not enabled by default. To enable it, click .
Playback Device
Gale: wouldn't a single image with both playback and recording menus open, an arrow indicating which is which, be more sensible?
- Peter 18Nov09 - why do the images have text in a different typeface (looks like Times New Roman to me)
- Bill 19Nov09 - separate playback and recording device menus pulled down.
Recording Device
Bill Nov 24/09: ToDo Recent changes to the code may allow different hosts for recording and playback. This should be tested close to the 2.0 release date.
Audacity must use the same interface host (for example, MME or DirectSound on Windows) to communicate with both the playback device and the recording device. Therefore if you change the host in either the playback or recording menu so that it differs from the host in the other menu, the host in that other menu will change to respect that.
