This is essentially a landing page in the Manual for the handling of errors (via a
help button) that occur in the Audacity application.
- There is also an entry in FAQ:Errors so that this page will get pulled into the released Manual.
Peter 13Sep20: ToDo-1 Image(s) of error message(s) would be useful.
Intro to be provided ...
Insufficient space in track
These two errors only occur if you turn "off" "Editing a clip can move other clips" in Tracks behaviors preferences.
The default setting for this is "on" and in that cases any following clips are moved to provide room
There is not enough room available to paste the selection
- You only get this if you have unchecked "Editing a clip can move other clips" in Tracks behaviors preferences.
- Note that it is checked "on" by default
There is not enough room available to expand the cut line
How you might get this occurring:
- uncheck "Editing a clip can move other clips" in Tracks behaviors preferences.
- Preferences, enable cut lines.
- Cut some audio from middle of some audio
- Put some more audio (another clip) a little after the now reduced audio
- Click on the 'cut line' to expand it... and oh dear.
