Non funziona!

Perchè non posso usare gli effetti o altri elementi dei menù?

Diversi elementi di menù sono disabilitati quando Audacity sta riproducendo, registrando, o è in pausa. Per abilitarli, premi il bottone giallo Ferma .

Tutti gli effetti, molti elementi del menù Modifica e i comandi Taglia, Copia, Ritaglia e Silenzia nella Barra Modifica, richiedono che prima venga selezionato l'audio da modificare.

• Per selezionare una specifica porzione di audio, scegli lo strumento Selezione, quindi clicca e trascina sulla porzione di audio (che verrà messa in evidenza).
• Per selezionare tutto l'audio in un progetto scegli Modifica > Seleziona > Tutto.

Se scegli un effetto od un elemento di menù che richiede un selezione, e non la hai fatta, "di default" Audacity selezionerà ed applicherà la modifica a tutto l'audio nel progetto.

Se preferisci, puoi inibire questo comportamento in Preferenze:Tracce togliendo la spunta a Seleziona tutto l'audio nel progetto, se non è selezionato nulla. In questo modo, se non è stato selezionato dell'audio, saranno disabilitati tutti gli elementi di menù che richiedono preventivamente una selezione.

Perchè non posso selezionare meno di un secondo o cliccare nello spazio tra due secondi interi?

Deseleziona Ancoraggio nella Barra Selezione. Se "Ancoraggio" è spuntato, la selezione deve essere pari ad un multiplo di unità di lunghezza, mentre la posizione del cursore viene forzata ad un multiplo di unità di lunghezza, secondo il Formato di selezione corrente.

Se "Ancoraggio" è spuntato ed è settato sui secondi mentre tu hai ingrandito sino ad avere meno di un secondo di traccia visibile, non potrai cliccare o selezionare in quella porzione sino a che non rimpicciolisci oppure togli la spunta ad "Ancoraggio".

Come faccio a selezionare audio in una traccia?

Vedere Selezionare in Audacity per un approfondimento sui principi della selezione di audio.

• Come faccio a selezionare audio in una traccia con il mouse?
  • Verifica che lo Strumento Selezione sia selezionato nella Barra Strumenti, oppure premi F1 sulla tastiera. Clicca col sinistro sulla forma d'onda nella traccia per posarci il cursore. Tenendo premuto il pulsante sinistro, trascina il mouse in una delle due direzioni, quindi rilascia il bottone. Ingrandisci se, tra destra e sinistra, ti occorre più dettaglio.

• Come faccio ad espandere o contrarre col mouse una porzione già selezionata?
  • Porta il puntatore su uno qualunque dei due bordi della porzione selezionata. Quando il puntatore diventa il dito di una mano, schiaccia e tieni premuto il bottone sinistro, quindi trascina il puntatore nella direzione voluta. Rilascia il bottone quando il bordo della selezione è dove ti serve.
  • E' spesso più rapido tener premuto il tasto MAIUSCOLO, quindi cliccare col sinistro nel punto ove vuoi vada a finire il bordo della selezione. A questo punto puoi cliccare sul bordo e trascinare per apportare modifiche fini al suo posizionamento, rilasciando quando ti sembra a posto. Quando devi contrarre una selezione, tieni premuto il tasto MAIUSCOLO e clicca all'interno della selezione, a sinistra del suo centro se vuoi contrarre il bordo sinistro, a destra del suo centro se vuoi contrarre il bordo destro.

• Come faccio a selezionare, o modificare una selezione, con la sola tastiera?

1. Se necessario, usa i tasti freccia SU o GIU' per portare il "fuoco" sulla traccia, quindi INVIO per selezionarla.
2. Premi J per andare all'inizio della traccia, quindi usa MAIUSCOLO + . per cercare (spostare il cursore) a destra di 15 secondi o . per spostare a destra di un secondo. Oppure premi K per andare alla fine della traccia ed usa la virgola invece del punto per spostare verso sinistra. Le quantità dello spostamento si possono cambiare in Preferenze riproduzione nell'area "Cerca tempo durante la riproduzione". Se non si è in riproduzione, i tasti freccia SINISTRA o DESTRA spostano il cursore di un solo pixel dello schermo.
3. Quando il cursore è nella posizione voluta, usa MAIUSCOLO + freccia DESTRA per espandere la selezione verso destra o MAIUSCOLO + freccia SINISTRA per espandere verso sinistra. CTRL + MAIUSCOLO + freccia SINISTRA contrae la selezione da destra e CTRL + MAIUSCOLO + freccia DESTRA la contrae da sinistra.

In alternativa, usa la Barra Selezione per piazzare con accuratezza la selezione senza dover ingrandire.

• C'è un modo veloce per selezionare dal cursore sino all'inizio o sino alla fine?
  • Per selezionare dal cursore all'inizio traccia: Scegli Modifica > Seleziona > Da inizio traccia al cursore o batti MAIUSCOLO + J.
  • Per selezionare dal cursore sino a fine traccia: Scegli Modifica > Seleziona > Dal cursore a fine traccia o batti MAIUSCOLO + K.
  • Per selezionare dal cursore all'inizio del progetto: Tieni premuto il tasto MAIUSCOLO e clicca il bottone Vai all'inizio. In alternativa, batti MAIUSCOLO + HOME. Tutto questo può essere utile se una o più tracce non partono all'istante 0 del progetto.
  • Per selezionare dal cursore alla fine del progetto: Tieni premuto il tasto Maiuscolo e clicca il bottone Vai alla fine. In alternativa, puoi usare la combinazione MAIUSCOLO + END. Tutto questo può essere utile se le tracce finiscono in momenti diversi.

How do I copy or move a selection into another track?

A selection exists in a track when that track is selected. There are several ways to change which tracks are selected.

• To copy a selection into other tracks: Hover over either selection edge. When the mouse pointer changes to a pointing finger, hold down the left mouse button then drag directly up or down into an adjacent track.

  If you want to extend or contract the selection, you can also drag left or right before releasing the button.

  If you don't want to change the selection length, there is no need to drag. Hold SHIFT while clicking on the Track Control Panel to left of the waveform to include that track in the selection, thereby copying the selection into it.

  • Keyboard users can include tracks in the selection by using UP or DOWN to change the track that has the yellow focus border, followed by ENTER to select that track. Hold SHIFT while pressing UP or DOWN to extend the selection up or down adjacent tracks.

• To move a selection into other tracks: Copy the selection as above, then hold SHIFT and click on the Track Control Panel of the track from which you were moving the selection, so as to deselect that track.
  • Keyboard users can press UP or DOWN to move the focus to the track from which the selection is to be removed, then press ENTER.

How do I combine two files into one longer file?

Follow these steps to splice two files together:

1. Import both files into Audacity
2. Select the second one by clicking above the Mute/Solo buttons on its Track Control Panel
3. Choose Edit > Find Zero Crossings
4. Choose Edit > Remove Audio > Cut
5. Place the cursor at the end of the first track by clicking in it then pressing K
6. Choose Edit > Paste.

You can press the green "Play" button to hear the result, and use the File > Export... command to save it as an audio file.

How do I mix two tracks together?

To mix two files, import both of them into Audacity. They will appear in separate tracks.

When you press the Play button, you'll hear both tracks play together. Because this adds the sounds together, the end result may become too loud and distorted. To fix this, turn down the -...+ gain sliders on each track until you see no clipping light on the Meter Toolbar. Use the L...R pan sliders to adjust the spatial position of each track in the mix. You can also use View > Mixer Board to display the controls for each track together in a separate window.

When you use File > Export..., the tracks will be automatically mixed to an audio file for use in other applications. If you want to mix tracks together explicitly before export, so that they are replaced with a single mixed track, select the tracks, then Tracks > Mix and Render.

Can I remove the vocals from a recording to make a Karaoke track?

This is only possible for certain stereo tracks. When the vocals are exactly the same on both stereo channels, you can remove them by “subtracting” one channel from the other. This works for recordings where the vocal track is mixed exactly in the center and stereo reverberation has not been added. See this tutorial: Vocal Removal and Isolation.

Why do I see a lot of vertical red lines in the track I just recorded?

This happens when you have an oversaturated recording, where clipping has occurred, that is, the signal has exceeded the maximum allowed level. The vertical red lines show where clipping has happened. The clipping indicators can be turned on and off (Audacity's default setting is "off") by selecting View > Show Clipping.

Can Audacity preview or apply effects live, in real time?

Audacity cannot yet apply effects in real time while you are previewing or recording. This is one of the most commonly asked for Feature Requests, but it requires substantial changes to Audacity to implement it. If you would like us to add your vote please either e-mail our feedback address or post on the Adding Features to Audacity section on the Audacity Forum.

Advanced users can apply effects to recordings in real time by applying the effects in a VST host and routing the effect output to be recorded by Audacity. See this Forum topic and ask on the Forum if you need any help.
