Audacity Manual Contents
- Peter 01Feb15: added a raw 2.0.1 screen image Widows 7 Basic Theme ready for Bill to work his magic and turn it into an amazing imagemap.
In spite of having a label track added as I believe we agreed recently the image is actually a tiny smidge shorter than the previous one.
- Peter 02Feb15: Bill updated amazing-imagemap. I reviewed this today and made a few corrections. Looks ready to me.
Looking at it now I find myself wondering if I should have made the Song-2 label a region label so we have both types.
- Gale 02Feb15: Ideally yes, considering the hover text.
- Peter 3Feb15: Done - but kludged with cut&paste in MS Paint to save Bill the work of remaking the amazing-imagemap all over again.
ToDo-2 Ready for review.
- Gale 05Feb15: It's "OK" but I do see loss of clarity between the current image and the version with point labels:
- notice the transitions outside the yellow track focus border. Is it regenerative loss? If so why are we using JPG which is lossy under most circumstances, instead of PNG? - Bill 04Feb2015: I, too, wondered why JPG instead of PNG. Peter, if you could send me a PNG of a window with everything exactly the same size I could just drop it into a layer in the photoshop document. Or send me a PNG of the 100% image and I'll try resizing it in photoshop. If you can't do exactly the same size, then as long as the arrangement of elements is the same I only have to re-enter about one third of the coordinates (I use a spreadsheet to calculate the other two-thirds). Everything is in layers, including each green border, the blue numbers, even the faked-up yellow focus border.
- Peter 3Feb15: Done - but kludged with cut&paste in MS Paint to save Bill the work of remaking the amazing-imagemap all over again.
- Peter 06Feb15: I spent some time yesterday working on some replacement images which are un-scaled and thus do not lose resolution, Bill has provided image-mapping for the two preferred candidates. The issue is whether Connie prefers default over image size.
- These are all png images (the jpg was just happenstance - a residual setting from previous non-Audacity use of MS paint. If Connie prefers png format perhaps she should say so?
- See my Sandbox for the examples and further discussion.
- The first was the normal default size but was deemed just too large
- The second image in the set, currently the preferred favorite maintains the default layout, but the Meter Toolbars as slightly width-reduced to bring the size down, but it is still larger width than Connie prefers - currently +3 votes
- The Third image conforms to Connie's preferred size but in order to achieve that the Transcription Toolbar is moved from its default position and the Meter Toolbars are further width reduced - currently +1.5 votes
- Gale 06Feb15: I'm +1 for the second image unless Photoshop can scale more or less imperceptibly to 820 width. But the squared corners are quite noticeable. Can Bill do anything with those? I did offer to make an image with (as near as it can be done) rounded corners.
- Bill 06Feb2015: Rounded corners fixed. Reducing does not work even in Photoshop. I tried Bicubic Sharper but the region label double line collapses. Nearest Neighbor (preserve hard edges) maintains the region label line but messes up the text.
- Gale 07Feb2015: Thanks, Bill. The scrollbar is acceptable at 1024*768, but another problem at that resolution is that at default zoom, the image extends to right of the blue background, which looks terrible. So I changed min-width to 1024px to solve that. That does not seem to change anything looked at in 1366x768 (as high as I can go) but please test.
