May 2017 discussions

  • James: We now have new behaviour of the select-all-if-none option, AND we have a help button on the dialog. I'm suggesting that rather than add the wording: "Automatically selects all time if no time selected, and all tracks if no tracks selected" we instead rely on the user clicking the help button if they are puzzled by exactly what an option does. We instead make the labels on buttons shorter, for example, "Auto selection". My point is that we cannot fully explain it on the preference panel, and a short description is enough to remind a user who has read the help what the option might be about.

  • James: For the tick boxes we should consistently use the word 'Enable' or NOT use it. My preference is not, but can live with it present for all.
    • Peter 16May17: I'd prefer us to lose the "Enable" - it is extraneous and looks very repetitive (Occam's mighty razor would have us remove it I'm thinking)
