FAQ:Errors opening a new empty project

This page deals with errors that you may encounter when opening Audacity or opening a new (empty) project in Audacity

The Message

We don't know exactly what causes this message to happen. It can happen at start up of Audacity, or when creating a new project window. If the problem happens often, we think the problem may be related to the type of hard drive you are using for Audacity (for example a network drive), or to anti-virus or to indexing software (which keeps the drive busy).

Please open the Show Log... panel, and cut and paste the message from there and send it to us on the Audacity Forum.
